Van Mahotsav is an annual, nationwide tree-planting festival celebrated across India during the first week of July (July 1st to 7th). The event, translating to "Forest Festival" in Sanskrit, was initiated in 1950 by Dr. K.M. Munshi to combat deforestation, promote afforestation, and foster environmental conservation.
